Who’ll stop the rain?

Intense rain and wind continued throughout Central New York for most of the working week. Traditional fall weather has contributed to flooded roads and basements, and numerous car crashes. Sadly, one man died and another was critically injured and two others had to be pulled to safety after being swept away by rapidly rising waters unleashed into the Oswego River by a local hydropower plant. Only two days later, another seventeen fishermen had to be rescued when the Oswego River, swollen by rain and storm water runoff stranded them. I also believe my home town is experiencing similar weather. So, on a lighter note I hope you enjoy the video clip. It’s one of my favourites.

Work wise the week was filled with a variety of administrative (travel agent) duties which included booking flights, accommodation and car rentals for the following College visits and Fulbright events:
  • Hudson Valley Community College (Albany), 6 and 7 Oct
  • Canton Technology College (Canton), 11 Oct
  • North Country Community (Adirondacks), 12 and 13 Oct
  • Onondaga and Cayuga BOCES, 14 Oct
  • Fulbright Event at The Australian Consulate General New York, 21 and 22 Oct
  • Fulbright Event at The Embassy of Australia Washington, 25, 26 and 27 Oct
The rest of working week was spent deciphering my scrawl and transcribing the interview notes.

Cheers,
Mark

  1. Hello Mark, I see the weather has changed for you - just to show you how wonderful the seasons are in North America. I am flying to Vancouver for Christmas and bracing for some cooler climate, although Brisbane has had its share of interesting climatic events. Enjoying your blog very much, regards, Suzanne O'Brien

  2. Sounds like you're having the same ridiculously wet weather as back here in good old Brissy. We've all grown webbed feet!
